Eat Healthy
Eating a balanced diet is key to building healthy hair from the inside out. A diet that is rich in protein, omega-3 fatty acid and zinc creates the building blocks for strong hair. A diet that’s poor in vitamins and nutrients, fad diets and fasting can lead to weakened hair and hair loss.
Exercise
We all know that exercise creates strong muscles and is good for our hearts and our waistlines, but did you know it also helps promote hair growth? Exercising increases blood flow throughout the entire body, including the scalp. Moderate exercise of 20 to 30 minutes per day is good for your mind, body, and hair, and can help reduce stress levels.
Reduce Stress
Speaking of stress, it can be an underlying cause of hair shedding and hair loss. When we are stressed out, our bodies create more androgens, a type of hormone associated with hair loss. Meditation, deep breathing exercises and yoga are enjoyable ways to reduce stress.
Scalp Health
Remember, the scalp is part of your skin. Treat it equally as well as you treat your face, if not better! Use shampoos and conditioners with high quality ingredients that address your specific hair and scalp issues, just as you would select skin care products. Another way to care for the scalp is to massage it often. Stimulation increases blood flow, which provides oxygen and nutrients to the hair.
Sleep
Did you know that lack of sleep can be an underlying cause of hair loss? Poor sleep quality can lead to numerous health issues, including stress, skin disorders, low energy, a poor immune system and hair shedding. Sleep helps our bodies regulate hormones and aids in protein synthesis of the hair. Getting a consistent, good night of sleep helps create a balanced scalp and healthy hair.
