5 Best Hair Growth Products

When it comes to hair growth, I like to think of the head as a forest and each hair as a tree. To make the forest look as dense as possible you want to have as many trees growing at one time, and you want each tree to be as thick as possible.

Think of the scalp as the earth or the soil. It nourishes trees. Hair that is thick and healthy will grow best from a healthy scalp, just like the tallest, thickest trees will grow from healthy soil.

When trying to grow longer, stronger, thicker hair, here are the top 5 hair growth products I recommend adding to your treatment plan to promote a healthy scalp and encourage new hair growth.

Top 5 products to promote hair growth:

  1. Naturally derived ingredients. Look for hair and scalp care products with naturally derived ingredients, such as coconut oil, almond oil and argan oil, that keep the scalp moisturized and the hair shiny and pliable. Today, many people want to take a holistic approach to their health, so I provide products that are SLES free, paraben free and contain naturally derived essential oils and plant stem cells to help stimulate hair growth.

  2. Nutritional supplements. I recommend Nutrafol supplements to most of my clients. There are different formulas that address the specific needs of women, aging women, postpartum women and men. As a nutraceutical, I like that Nutrafol is “multi-targeted,” meaning it addresses a combination of issues at one time such as stress, hormonal changes, free radicals, DHT and more. It is a well-rounded supplement that has been very well studied.

  3. Quality conditioner. I believe investing in a great conditioner is essential for growing longer, healthier hair. There’s no point in having long hair if it doesn’t look healthy! Conditioner acts as a great detangler, so you’re not pulling your hair out when you try to comb through it after shampooing. It makes hair more manageable when styling, and it leaves it shinier when finished. Look for a conditioner with Keratin proteins to help strengthen the hair and natural oils, such as Baobab Seed Oil, to help with pliability, shine and to act as an emollient for damaged hair. Hydrolyzed Quinoa is also an effective ingredient in helping hair to retain moisture and reduce color fading.

  4. Scalp massager. Using a scalp massager is a great addition to any hair care routine. A massager stimulates the scalp and creates better blood flow to the hair follicle. It’s the nutrients and oxygen in our blood that feed the follicles, so regular scalp stimulation is a good thing. Massagers and scrubbing tools can also help remove excess oil, product build up and pollutants from the scalp. Bacteria feeds on sebum (our natural oil) and can create inflammation of the scalp and clog follicles, making it hard for serums and other hair growth products to penetrate into the skin and work effectively. If you use a scalp massager, it’s important to use one that is soft and pliable, so it doesn’t injure the scalp, and remember to massage gently.

  5. Heat protectants. Any time you use a blow dryer or any type of iron on your hair, you run the risk of damage. It’s important to use the lowest temperature possible and always use a heat protectant before styling. I like sprays such as CRLAB’s Hair Milk Spray. It has extracts of Moringa and Argan to protect against ultraviolet rays and stressful agents. Vitamin E combined with strong antioxidants prevents the build-up of free radicals and revitalizes the hair giving it shine and softness.
